Relatives and friends gathered to congratulate the former Fay (Feria) Mitchell and Frank Hanscomb from Auburn on their 50th anniversary.
They were married on May 4,1963, at St. Peter Church, Auburn.
The couple have two daughters, Lynn Hanscomb of Auburn and Jill Hunter of Bow. They also have four grandchildren.
The daughters surprised their parents by arranging for them to be transported to the Concord Audubon Society Center in a '57 Chevy, where they were greeted by family and friends.
During the celebration, Fay and Frank renewed their marriage vows at a ceremony officiated by the Rev. Deacon Linda J. Spinella. Readings were done by their daughters Lynn and Jill and grandchildren, Adam Senecal, Sonia Hunter and Elisabeth Hunter.
Mitchell Senecal video-taped the event. Their son-in-law, Peirce Hunter, presented a photo slide show of the couple during the past 50 years.
Four members of the wedding party were present at the event: Philip Mitchell, John Mitchell, Joey Robie Pearson and matron of honor Donna Robinson Lignon of Alabama.
Before their retirement, Frank Hanscomb was a parts manager for Volkswagen in Manchester and Fay was a special education paraprofessional at Auburn Village School in Auburn.
The celebration continued in the fall as the couple took a two-week anniversary trip to Austria, Germany and Switzerland with the Chris Angiulo group.
