Autopsy on body found in burning truck in Weare set for Monday

WEARE — The autopsy on a person found in a burning truck on Saturday is scheduled for today, according to State Fire Marshal William Degnan.

On Saturday morning just before 11:30, a neighbor reported the burnt truck at 63 Merrill Road to police and the fire department. The fire was out when emergency responders arrived on scene, but a body was found in the pickup.

Weare Police Officer Brandon Montplaisir said on Sunday morning that they believe the deceased was an elderly man who had a history of health problems. But until the autopsy is completed and positive identification is made by the medical examiner's office, no name is being released.

Degnan said it's unlikely that any other information will be made available until after noon on Monday.
