Recycled Percussion braves snowstorm to play NH gigs

MANCHESTER — The snowstorm grounded Recycled Percussion when its plane from Las Vegas landed in Cleveland. The next available flight wasn't until Monday.

True to its New Hampshire roots, the band was not going to let a little snow and ice get between it and the three gigs it had scheduled over the weekend at the Palace Theatre in Manchester.

And thus began a road trip for the ice ages. The musicians rented an SUV, loaded up and started trucking east. Fifteen hours later, they rolled into New Hampshire.

This winter odyssey was captured on Recycled Percussion's Facebook page, as fans cheered them along the way (one even urged them to rent the SUV). Then they celebrated as they are wont to do: with a great, glorious racket on stage.

Jim Roach, a local producer, said the musicians got to the theater just three hours before the first set.

"It was pretty hectic," he said by phone Friday night, as Reycled Percussion was loudly playing in the background.

Recycled Percussion performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The band performed two shows at the Palace Theatre on Saturday.

While in New Hampshire, Recycled Percussion will also play at the Lebanon Opera House next Friday and at the Flying Monkey in Plymouth on Saturday for two shows.
