Moose crash brings DWI charge
JEFFERSON — A local woman was airlifted to a Lebanon hospital for treatment of serious injuries Wednesday night after her car collided with a moose on Route 116.
Police said Maureen Couture, 48, was taken to Weeks Memorial Hospital in Lancaster and transferred by helicopter to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center because of “significant injury.”
A passenger in the car, Russ Hawkins, 49, also of Jefferson, was taken to Weeks Memorial where he was treated and released.
State police said Couture was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol.
