Bruins fall to Kings, 4-2

Justin Williams collected a power-play goal and an assist in his 800th career gamewhile Jonathan Quick turned aside 20 shots and set up a tally as Los Angeles beat the Bruins 4-2.
 
Jeff Carter netted his team-leading 16th goal and Dustin Brown and defenseman Alec Martinez also tallied for the Kings, who handed Boston its fifth setback in the last six road games.
 
Chad Johnson stopped 16 shots after relieving Tuukka Rask (15 saves) early in the second period for the Bruins, who fell to 0-2-0 on their three-game road trip through California. Matt Fraser scored midway through the second period and Justin Florek tallied late in the third for his first NHL goal.
 
Los Angeles drew first blood midway through the first period as Carter collected his own rebound and beat Rask from the right faceoff circle. Williams doubled the advantage 44 ticks into the second, accepting defenseman Slava Voynov's lead pass before scoring from the right circle, and Martinez's blast from the point 1:01 later chased Rask.
 
Fraser trimmed the deficit by one-timing a cross-slot feed from Carl Soderberg past Quick. The former Conn Smythe Trophy winner held the fort from there and Brown scored on a partial breakaway 12:22 into the third period to regain the three-goal advantage.
 
GAME NOTEBOOK: Prior to the game, Los Angeles' Darryl Sutter was honored for coaching his 1,000th game on Saturday. His wife Wanda and son Chris were in attendance. ... Boston LW Milan Lucic returned after missing Tuesday's 5-2 loss to Anaheim due to illness. ... Carter outshot the Bruins by a 6-5 margin in the first period. ... Bruins enforcer Shawn Thornton served the final contest of his 15-game suspension and is eligible to return for Saturday's game against San Jose.
