Report of armed student at Pinkerton Academy in Derry proves false

DERRY—A report that a student had a gun on the campus of Pinkerton Academy Tuesday proved to be incorrect, according to Derry police.

Police said they responded to the school at 1:51 p.m. to check out a report that there was a student who was possibly in possession of a gun. Officers and Pinkerton administrators found the student and determined that he didn’t have a firearm, police said.

An investigation determined that the information that prompted the response was incorrect. It was also determined that there wasn’t any weapon, and there wasn’t a threat to the safety of students and staff.

No charges are expected to be filed, and the investigation has been closed.
