Abby Hernandez supporters to send a ‘Thunderclap’ Wednesday

CONWAY — With some help from a woman in Santa Clarita, Calif., a message will go out to more than a million people worldwide telling the story of Abigail Hernandez, the 15-year-old Kennett High School student who has been missing since Oct. 9.

At noon Wednesday, members of Thunderclap, a social media site, will send a single message to be mass-shared “flash mob-style” and a link to the bringabbyhome.com website to members of the popular Thunderclap site and to their friends on other social media sites.

“It will broadcast out the message in the blue text at the top of the Thunderclap page,” said Paul Kirsch, one of the volunteer leaders helping in the search for Hernandez, who was last seen walking home from school.

The page was set up by Californian Anna Castillo.

“There was a young man missing from that area, and she had set up a Thunderclap about him. When she learned about Abby, she wanted to do something for her, too, as Abby reminded her a lot of her own daughter,” Kirsch said.

“This to me is touching, and it reminds of the reach of Abby’s story and how caring and supportive people have been.”

“Our goal with the Thunderclap, like everything else, is ultimately to bring Abby back home to her mom. The Thunderclap message links to the bringabbyhome.com website, and we will make sure to have a message there on the home page at noon (today). So for anyone who clicks, they can learn everything about Abby they can.”
