Kyle Gavin netted 29 points and Joe Marandola added 14 to lead Bishop Guertin of Nashua to a 64-49 Division I boys' basketball win against host Manchester West at the Charles Quinn Gym Thursday.

The Cardinals are now 6-0 and West falls to 0-6. Gavin had 10 rebounds and Marandola had 14 boards.

West trailed 34-19 at halftime but battled back to close its deficit to four points with four minutes to play. Alfred Nyonee led West with 16 points and Kaneen Caron added 12. West looks to gain its first win against winless Timberlane tonight in Plaistow at 6:30 p.m.

Boys' hockey

Pinkerton 2, Bishop Guertin 1: On Wednesday, second period goals from Ethan Landry and Bailey Walsh led Pinkerton Academy of Derry to the win over Bishop Guertin of Nashua.

BG's first period goal came from Max McCabe in a shorthanded situation.

Junior goaltender Brendan Murphy of Pinkerton had 20 saves. Assists were chalked up by Pinkerton's Gio Corsetto, Josh Barton, Ryan Monte and Ryan Christie. BG goalie Adin Farhat had 19 saves.
