NH College Roundup: UNH women edge UConn in hockey

Jonna Curtis scored with 4:41 remaining in regulation to lead the University of New Hampshire women’s ice hockey team to a 3-2 victory over the University of Connecticut at the Whittemore Center in Durham Sunday.

UNH earned a weekend split with UConn to improve to 9-12-2 overall and 4-5-2 in Hockey East.

UConn (3-7-1) prevailed 3-1 Saturday on their home ice. UNH got goals from Nicole Gifford and Cassandra Vilgrain.

Men’s hockey

Dartmouth 1, Cornell 1: In Hanover on Saturday night, sophomore Connor Dempsey scored his first career goal as the Big Green earned a tie. Dartmouth is 3-13-3 overall and 2-9-1 in ECAC Hockey play. The 12th-ranked Big Red are now 9-4-4 overall and 5-3-2 in league games.
SNHU 4, Salve Regina 3: In Newport, R.I., Saturday, the Penmen scored three third period goals to improve to 11-5-1. Nick Riccio scored his first goal of the year. Anthony Laperriere, Steven Berry and Trevor Nelson of Exeter all scored for the winners.
SNHU goalie Tyler Holske earned the win with 25 saves.
