Goffstown tips Dover in OT
GOFFSTOWN — The Goffstown High boys' hockey team overcame a two-goal third-period deficit to beat Dover 4-3 in overtime at Sullivan Arena on Monday.
The Grizzlies tied the game on Nevin Houle's goal with 11 seconds remaining in regulation, after pulling their goalie. They won it one minute into overtime when A.J. Potvin found Cory Kasiaras skating in alone, and Kasiaras tucked the puck under goalie Luc Ravenelle.
Goffstown, which trailed 2-0, improved to 5-2 in Division II; Dover fell to 6-2.
"We didn't panic when it was 2-0," said Goffstown coach Paul Roy. "We didn't panic when they scored their third. It was a character win."
Dover took a 1-0 lead on Cam Crowley's breakaway goal. Ben Henderson doubled the lead before Goffstown's Mason Mable beat Ravenelle to make it 2-1. Houle tied it 2-2.
Dover responded when Crowley scored his second of the game, beating Ben Genest high on the glove side. Dover led 3-2 with 5:23 to go.
But Houle responded again, beating a screened Ravenelle to force the overtime.
"We had a little 'puck luck'"said Roy. "We tell our guys to chip pucks to the net and good things will happen."
Goffstown had 30 shots on goal while Dover had 27.
