Three ODs in 24 hours prompt heroin warning from Portsmouth police

PORTSMOUTH — Rescue workers have responded to three heroin overdoses in a 24-hour period, prompting a warning from Portsmouth police.

“At this time, it is unknown if the drugs involved are atypically potent or tainted,” police said in a release issued Wednesday. “At this point, we also don’t know if the three overdoses are connected.”

Police said the three overdoses took place over the preceding 24 hours.

Police said anyone using heroin from a local source should exercise extreme caution. Anyone with information about the incidents should contact Portsmouth police detectives at 610-7473.
