NHIAA Basketball: Goffstown girls get past West


GOFFSTOWN — Molly McQueeny scored eight points and Cassidy Lalumiere added seven as the Goffstown High girls’ basketball used balanced scoring to defeat Manchester West 43-21 on Friday night.

Goffstown improved to 5-3; West is 0-8. The 22-point difference represented their closest loss of the season.

“The girls played hard,” said West coach Mario Pena. “We make teams work. We just have a tough time scoring.”

Shooting accuracy hurt the Blue Knights in this game. They got good looks but couldn’t make the shots. Scoring has been an issue for West season; the team is averaging just under 22 points a game.

For Goffstown, it was a solid game, if not a bit flawed. Grizzlies coach Deanna Goodwin admits her team might have taken West lightly.

“I don’t think we expected them to play as hard as they did,” said Goodwin. “Our second half was much better.”

But Goffstown dominated the boards thanks to 6-2 junior center Rene Roggenbuck. The Grizzlies out-rebounded West, 38-19.

West was lead by Emily Keefe, who had 8 points.
