Two Laconia fires called suspicious

LACONIA — Police say two fires reported in the early morning hours Saturday caused little damage but were "suspicious in nature."

The fire department responded to a report of a vehicle fire at 46 Academy St. around 2 a.m. and discovered a fire that caused "extensive" damage to the back seat area of a vehicle parked at that location.

While firefighters were still at the scene of that fire, police discovered a second fire outside a residence at 91 Highland St. Firefighters were able to quickly douse that fire and there was only minor damage to the exterior of the building, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information about these incidents to call the department at 524-5252, or the anonymous Greater Laconia Crime Line at 524-1717.
