I was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 27 years old, and I have volunteered for YSC in a local leadership capacity since 2008. I am currently YSC’s New Hampshire State Leader, serving as the link between the national organization and its local communities (survivors, volunteers, and health care providers). I also organize a Face-to-Face Networking Group for young women affected by breast cancer, which meets monthly in Bedford.
The New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence (the Coalition) is a state-wide organization comprised of 14 independent community-based member programs, a board of directors, and a central staff who all work together to create safe and just communities through advocacy, prevention and empowerment of anyone affected by sexual violence, domestic violence and stalking. I have been connected to the coalition for over a decade. I served as a member of the coalition’s AmeriCorps Victim Assistance Program (AVAP) during the 2001-02 service year and have served as a member of the AVAP Partnership, its advisory board, since 2009. I have been a member of the coalition’s board of directors since May 2012.

Most admired person (outside your family): Dr. Ann Partridge, who is the founder and director of the Program for Young Women with Breast Cancer at Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center and is chair of the Young Survival Coalition’s Medical Advisory Board

GOFFSTOWN — Jennifer Turco Beaudet always had an interest in becoming a lawyer, and although she studied psychology, linguistics and American Sign Language, she found her way into the courtroom.

Throughout her life and career, she has found the time to volunteer to fight for women's health and safety. In 2007, at the age of 27 and a newlywed, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She spent a year undergoing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. During this time, she became involved with the Young Survival Coalition, a global organization that offers resources and outreach for women diagnosed with breast cancer.

"I had no family history of breast cancer and didn't know anybody who had it at my age. I felt isolated and alone. I found the coalition on my own on the Internet," she said. "Once I got toward the end of my treatment, I felt it was important to turn my experience to the positive and help others."

In 2008, Beaudet formed a Young Survival Coalition branch in Manchester and led their efforts until 2012. She now serves as the coalition's New Hampshire state leader.

"The coalition's goal is to raise awareness that young women do get breast cancer and that women can join others and help each other through their isolation," Beaudet said. "Over time, it has evolved, and right now we have a peer-to-peer network for women affected by breast cancer. The support they get from each other is key, and if I can bring them together, it's the least I can do."

Before graduating from Northeastern University and Northeastern University School of Law, Beaudet spent a year serving in Americorps, where she developed a passion for helping women who have suffered domestic and sexual assault and stalking. She continues on the advisory board of the Americorps Victim Assistance Program in New Hampshire.

She also served as a member of the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, which creates a safe environment through advocacy and prevention, allowing women to feel empowered and part of a strong community. She has served on many of the organization's committees.

Beaudet has also volunteered for the Shelter Legal Services Foundation in Massachusetts, which assists low-income families and the homeless dealing with civic issues.

Beaudet is an associate in commercial litigation at Primmer, Piper, Eggleston and Cramer law firm in Manchester and was recognized as a New England Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine for 2011, 2012 and 2013. She was also awarded the Bellwether Community Champion Award in 2011 and the Granite State Beacon Award in 2012 for her volunteerism and serving her community.
