Valmarc leases space in Salem park
Valmarc Corp., a Boston-based technology firm, has leased 4,683 square feet of professional-business office space in the Salem, N.H. Professional Park.
The Valmarc System provides a platform that enables brands to suppress counterfeits, reduce gray market diversion and regain control of their message to the consumer, according to a news release. The company will be located at 5 Industrial Way.
The landloard, Van-Clay Investments II LLC, was represented by Christopher B. Goodnow, Goodnow Real Estate Services; and Valmarc Corp. was represented by Harry R. Shea, Shea Commercial Properties Inc.
Council seeks Entrepreneur of the Year Award nominations
MANCHESTER — The NH High Tech Council has opened the application process for its annual Entrepreneur of the Year award.
The celebration will be held May 5 at the Radisson Hotel/Center of New Hampshire in Manchester. This will be the 26th Entrepreneur of the Year event.
Applications are available for download at NHHTC.org.
Eligibility for the award is limited to any founder, owner, or senior level manager of a business in New Hampshire who has successfully organized, developed, or managed a high-tech concept into a commercial product or service. Applications will be accepted until March 28.
“The list of past winners is really a who’s who of technology innovators who have created tens of thousands of jobs and advanced innovation in many ways both locally and nationally,” said Paul Mailhot, chair of the council’s board of directors, in a news release. “We’re hoping for another great pool of candidates this year.”
Nominations sought for Business in the Arts Awards
Nominations are open for the 2014 Business in the Arts Awards, sponsored annually by the New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts to recognize businesses and a business leader that have had significant impact on the state’s arts and cultural environment.
Anyone may make a nomination. Arts organizations and artists are encouraged to nominate their favorite businesses. Businesses are encouraged to self nominate. Many businesses donate time and financial support to the arts community in relative anonymity, the group notes.
The winners will be announced at the awards banquet on Monday, May 12.

Exeter chamber plans awards dinner
PORTSMOUTH — The Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce has scheduled its 2014 Business of the Year Awards for April 11 at the Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel.
Networking and visiting display tables will take place from 5:30 to 6 p.m., and the award ceremony will run from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $45 per person. A table of eight can be reserved for $320.
The 2014 Business of the Year Award winners will be announced and honored at the reception. Members in several categories will be recognized. The 3rd annual Exeter Area Citizen of the Year will also be recognized.
