NHIAA Roundup: Londonderry, BGboys post victories

Londonderry survived a third-quarter scare where visiting Dover pulled within five points, but eventually earned a 51-40 win at home in boys’ NHIAA basketball play Monday night.

Londonderry improved to 8-3 and was led by Cody Ball with 14 points. Jake Coleman had nine and Caleb Green poured in 11 in the win.

Dover was paced by Kylan Lafleur with 15 points and Karim Winn added 14. Dover fell to 1-8.
Bishop Guertin 77, Alvirne 39: At Nashua, the Cardinals (8-1) led 29-19 at halftime but pulled away with a 24-5 edge in the third. Kyle Gavin had 16 and Joe Marandola added 13 for BG. Alvirne’s Tyler Brown and Evan Hunt. had nine points each.
Nashua South 72, Salem 58: At Salem, the Blue Devils led early but could not hold on as South pulled away. South was led by Trevor Knight and Yordy Taveres with 16 points each. Salem was topped by Matt Vartainian with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Mike Felix had 17 points. South is now 5-2 and Salem fell to 2-4.
Nashua North 70, Timberlane 53: At Nashua, North improved to 3-6 thanks to 18 points from Jordan Lates and 16 from Brendan Barrett.

Girls’ basketball

Pinkerton 59, Keene 39: At Derry, host Pinkerton Academy remained unbeaten at 8-0. Brandi Bonneau had 15 points in the win followed by Marissa Stacy with 13.
Bishop Guertin 54, Alvirne 47: At Hudson, Jamie Sherburne led the Cardinals (7-3) with 19 points. Alvirne dropped to 4-3.

Ice hockey

Hanover 5, Concord 4: At Campion Arena in Lebanon, Ben Acker scored two goals including the game-winner with 3:44 left. Concord’s Connor Beatty and Hanover’s Sam Carey (power play) exchanged first period goals before Hanover scored three more times in the second frame behind goals from Andrew Huizenga, Acker and Peter O’Leary. Concord rallied in the last frame, getting goals from Alex Marceau, Ethan Cole and Adam Godbout. Matt Norris and Alex Orcutt each had two assists for Concord. Shawn Cavallaro had three assists for Hanover.
