Etna man arrested over threat to Hanover police on Facebook

HANOVER — An Etna man was arrested Wednesday and charged with criminal threatening after posting on Facebook a threat to harm Hanover police officers and their children, police said.

The Hanover Police Department said it received a report earlier Wednesday from a concerned citizen about a threatening post that appeared on the Facebook account of David Barr, 29, who lives at 90 King Hill Road, Etna.

The threat also made reference to violence connected to school, according to a police news release, which did not specify which school.

After an arrest warrant was issued, police located Barr at his workplace in Hanover. He was then arrested and charged.

Barr’s bail was set at $30,000 cash with several conditions. Police said his arraignment on the misdemeanor charge would likely be Thursday in 2nd Circuit Court in Lebanon.
