Wakefield woman turns herself in for July accident

ROCHESTER — After learning a warrant had been issued for her arrest, a Wakefield woman surrendered to police Wednesday.

Jennifer Rothwell, 33, of 64 Rines Road, was charged with vehicular assault stemming from a two-vehicle accident that closed Route 11 and injured two others on July 17.

Police said Rothwell was driving an eastbound 1994 Ford Ranger when it struck a northbound 2003 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Marie Reed, 75, of 293 Charles St., Farmington, while Reed was turning left onto Farmington Road, Route 11, from Exit 15 off the Spaulding Turnpike.

Rothwell, who was found unconscious at the scene, was brought to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for non-life- threatening injuries along with Reed and her passenger, Deborah Reed, 57, of 314 Charles St., Farmington, who both suffered “serious, but non-life-threatening injuries,” according to police.

Route 11 was closed for several hours as members of the Strafford County Regional Accident Reconstruction Team assisted with the investigation, which determine Rothwell allegedly “entered the intersection against a red light when she struck Reed’s vehicle as she was entering the intersection on a green light,” according to police.

Rothwell, who was released on $3,500 personal recognizance, is scheduled to appear at the 7th Circuit Rochester District Court on March 3 at 8 a.m.

Vehicular assault is a Class A misdemeanor which could result in up to a year in jail.
