Police urge Littleton residents to beware of billing scam

LITTLETON — Littleton police are advising residents to be aware of a scam involving fraudulent telephone calls in which a caller claims to represent the Littleton Water and Light Department.

“The caller … will advise your electrical service to your home or business is scheduled to be shut off today due to an outstanding bill,” police said in a news release issued Thursday.

“Do not provide any payment request made by the caller,” and do not call the 800 number the caller may provide, police urged residents.

“This is a scam to obtain monies and your financial information. Please make all inquiries about your electrical service direct to the Littleton Water and Light Department at 444-2915 per their request,” police concluded in the release.
