NH indoor track championships set for Sunday

The NHIAA State Indoor Track Championships will be held at Leverone Fieldhouse at Dartmouth College in Hanover on Sunday. The Division II meet will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the Division I meet at 3:30 p.m.

The Division I girls' meet will feature standout Johanna Celli of Bedford, who is favored to win the 55-meter dash and the 300-meter dash. Molly McCabe of Bishop Guertin of Nashua is the frontrunner in the 600-meter and 1,000-meter runs. Exeter's Shannon Murdock is the top-ranked runner in the 1500-meters and Ariel Vaillancourt of Pinkerton of Derry gets the nod in the 3000-meters.

Emma Bzik of Bedford (high jump) and Pinkerton's Michaela Blackwell (long jump) are the state's top jumpers and Patty Driscoll of Londonderry is favored to win the shot put.

Top runners to watch in the Division I boys' meet are Zach Cicio of Pinkerton (55-meter dash), Zakari Jenkins of Nashua North (300-meter dash), Connor Kwiecien of Pinkerton (600-meter run), Rob Flynn of Bedford (1,000 meters), Justin Carbone of Exeter (1,500 meters) and Justin Trott of Winnacunnet of Hampton (3,000 meters). Nick Masella of Merrimack is favored to win the 55-meter hurdles.

Keelan McCoole of Bedford (high jump), Angel Feliz of Concord (long jump) and Duncan Holland of Nashua North (shot put) are the top-ranked athletes in their events.

Athletes to watch in the Division II girls' meet are Dominique Twombley of Oyster River of Durham (55-meter dash), Corinne Kennedy of Lebanon (300-meter dash, 55-meter hurdles, long jump), Hannah Parker of Coe-Brown of Northwood (600-meter run), Maegan Doody of Oyster River (1,000-meter run, 1,500-meter run), Emma Newton of Hollis/Brookline (3,000-meter run), Alley Savioli of Coe-Brown (shot put) and Marykate Melanson of Plymouth in the high jump.

Jeremy Brassard could be a three-time winner in the 1000-, 1500- and 3,000-meter runs in the Division II boys' meet. John Cioffredi of Lebanon is favored in the high jump and long jump. Nick Ritzo of Portsmouth gets the nod in the shot put and Malcolm Gocha of Plymouth (55-meter dash) and Corey Barrett of ConVal of Peterborough (300-meter dash) are the top sprinters.

In the 1,500-meters, Eli Moskowitz of Souhegan of Amherst enters that event as the runner to beat. Same for Craig Telfer of Lebanon in the 55-meter hurdles.
