NASHUA — Continuing the expansion of the Nashua Technology Park, city planners this week will decide whether a new hotel should be permitted on the site in the city’s south end.
As the Gateway Hills community within the Technology Park continues construction, the John J. Flatley Co. is requesting that additional development get underway with a Homewood Suites by Hilton hotel.
“The proposal is to construct a 105-room, four-story hotel with a total floor area of 76,320 square feet,” says a report from Matt Taylor, deputy planning manager for the city. “Site improvements include an access drive and parking area for 106 spaces, new landscaping, lighting, drainage infrastructure and sidewalks.”
A traditional, brick and clapboard hotel with a flat roof is being proposed.
It is the second hotel plan to be presented in recent months. Last fall, the board approved construction of a four-story hotel and separate standing restaurant at 25 Trafalgar Square. The new Residence Inn by Marriott will include 118 rooms with about 26,425 square feet near the Somerset Plaza.
If approved, the new Homewood Suites by Hilton hotel would be the fourth in New Hampshire; others are in Portsmouth, Manchester and Dover.
The Nashua Technology Park is an integrated residential and commercial complex off Exit 1 of the F.E. Everett Turnpike near the Massachusetts border. The Flatley Company has assembled a number of parcels over the years at the location; the office park currently houses more than 1 million square feet of research and development space.
Last September, the planning board approved the second phase of the Tara Heights apartment complex, which is now under construction and will eventually bring 384 residential units into southern Nashua. About 180 luxury apartment units were previously constructed as part of the first phase of the Gateway Hills community.
A large retail village referred to as Tara Commons has been built at the entrance to Gateway Hills on Spit Brook Road. In 2012, the Flatley Co. broke ground on two medical buildings, a retail strip and bank at the technology park.
The Nashua City Planning Board will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Nashua City Hall to review the hotel proposal.
