General Dynamics granted $520M for Virginia-Class submarine procurements

A welder for General Dynamics pieces together part of a Virginia Class submarine. The submarine class was introduced in 1998, and after 10 years the subs require their first full-scale maintenance. The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is equipped to do "depot-level" maintenance on the submarine. (General Dynamics)

The company stated that the contract continues to support the submarine industrial base in California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Virginia, Arizona, New York, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Illinois, Massachusetts, and other states throughout the U.S. With this modification, the contract has a value of $1.2 billion.
