Mother of missing teen posts video pleading for her return

CONWAY — The mother of missing Kennett High School freshman Abigail Hernandez has issued a video showing her driving around North Conway, looking for her daughter, and has made a public plea to Abigail to write or call home again.

In the video, Zenya Hernandez notes it has been almost four months since Abigail was last seen. On Oct. 9, Abigail was last seen walking away from school, and was last heard from when she texted a heart symbol to her boyfriend just before 3 p.m.

She pleaded with her daughter to make another attempt to communicate, as she apparently did in late October, when she sent a letter to her mother. Authorities have asked Zenya Hernandez not to tell the public what the letter said.

"How much communication have we had … in the past four months?" Zenya Hernandez says in the video.

"Hearing your voice … I don't know why she wouldn't call," Henrandez says.

A friend making the video suggests, and Zenya agrees, that if Abigail "can't get to a phone" that she "send a letter with a picture of her" to her mother.

On the Facebook page, "Bring Abby Home," Zenya Hernandez describes the reason for her message.

"I really, really miss you. Life is not the same without you. I don't know if you can see this video but I hope that you do. I wanted to show you pictures of your hometown and your dogs. There will be more videos to come. —Mom."

Abigail Hernandez is 15, is 5-foot-4 tall, weighs 118 pounds, and has long brown hair and brown eyes.

Law enforcement, while not having new developments in the case to report, again expressed "grave concern" for her safety Wednesday. Anyone with information about her whereabouts should call 1-800-CALL-FBI. There is a $20,000 reward offered by law enforcement officials for information leading to her discovery.
