College Sports: St. Anselm women top Holy Cross, 3-1

St. Anselm goalie Hannah Synnot wasn’t facing many shots, so she got in on the offense.

Synnot picked up her first career point with an assist on Alison Quinn’s second goal of the game as the Hawks beat Holy Cross 3-1 on Friday in Manchester.

Synnot also had 14 saves and Quinn scored twice in the second period for St. Anselm (18-3-0, 11-2-0 ECAC). The Hawks outshot the Crusaders 30-17. Krista Manzanares made 27 saves for Holy Cross (15-6-1, 9-3-1).




Plymouth St. 2, New England College 0: At Henniker, Carrie Baruch and Justine Gelinas scored a goal apiece and Ali Ponte picked up her second shutout of the season for the Panthers (4-15-2, 2-9-2 ECAC).

Laren Hopps had 40 saves for the Pilgrims (2-20-0, 2-12-0).

Men’s basketball

Yale 67, Dartmouth 54: At Hanover, Brandon Sherrod scored 15 for Yale and coach James Jones got his 200th career victory. The Bulldogs (10-9, 4-1 Ivy League) held the Big Green to four field goals in the first half. Eli Harrison scored 12 for Dartmouth (10-9, 2-3).




Colby-Sawyer 91, Maine Maritime 51: At New London, Wol Majong made six 3-pointers and scored 24 points for Colby-Sawyer (11-8, 10-3 North Atlantic Conference). Dylan Price had 13 points to lead Maine Maritime (1-19), which remained winless in conference play at 0-13.
