Investigators report progress in search for Manchester man's killer

Christopher Gagnon

MANCHESTER — While no arrests have been made, investigators are making progress toward solving the murder of a West Side man on Super Bowl Sunday night and believe they identified all involved in the fatal stabbing, a state prosecutor said Monday.

Christopher L. Gagnon, 22, of 73 B St., suffered a single stab wound to the chest when he was attacked across from Mount Calvary Cemetery in a wooded area off Goffstown Road known as Black Acres. Gagnon was stabbed at about 11:20 p.m. on Feb. 2. He died the next day.

"We do have a good sense of what this is about. But since it's an open and active investigation, it's not (something) we can share at this time," Assistant New Hampshire Attorney General Peter Hinckley said.

"We believe all the parties that have been involved have been identified at this point," Hinckley added. He would not elaborate, citing the ongoing investigation.

Police said they were called to the Black Acres section off Goffstown Road after 11 p.m. Sunday for reports of youths running in camouflage gear and pointing lasers, followed by a report of possible gunshots.

Gagnon reportedly went to find out who was pointing lasers at his friends when he was stabbed, said Kimberly Hill, who described herself as a close friend of Gagnon's.

Gagnon worked for his father's company, LG Installations. He liked working on cars, snowmobiling, riding all-terrain vehicles and mud-truck racing.
