Pinkerton at Oyster River

Bailey Walsh scored two third-period goals to lift Pinkerton Academy of Derry past Nashua North 4-2 in a Division I ice hockey contest Wednesday at Conway Arena.

Pinkerton goaltender Brendan Murphy turned back 14 shots for the win.

North took the early lead on a goal by Joey Paige, assisted by Robert Lavine and Danny Leblanc. The Astros tied it later in the period on a goal from Ryan Monte, assisted by Mike Bellmore. Pinkerton took a 2-1 second-period lead on a score by Tyler Poole and Walsh made it 3-1 just 3:40 into the last frame. Shamus Doherty and Ethan Landry each assisted on the goal.

North pulled within 3-2 on a power-play tally by Tyler Searles, assisted by John Wilson. Pinkerton iced the game with Walsh's second goal with 1:11 left. Gio Corsetto and Josh Barton each had the assist. Pinkerton is 4-7-1 and North fell to 7-7.

Boys' basketball

Bishop Brady 66, Coe-Brown 60: In Northwood on Wednesday, Jourdain Bell led the Green Giants (11-2) with 21 points, including the 1,000th of his career.

Nick Rolser led Coe-Brown (8-5) with 20 points and Erik Rolser followed with 12 points and eight rebounds.


Pinkerton's gymnasts topped four other schools in a meet Monday.

The Astros' total of 137.8 helped them to finish ahead of Londonderry (126.85), Goffstown (116.65), Souhegan (94.85) and Hollis/Brookline (73.05).

Londonderry's Maddy Briting finished third overall with a 34.3.

She won the vault with a 9.2 and the floor with an 8.5. Other Lancers who performed well on the vault were Jill McIntire (8.1), Molly Koon (7.9) and Emily Raymond (7.9); on the bars, scoring well was Britting (7.9), McIntire (7.0) and Jordan Dufresne (6.9); on the beam, Maddie Baumann had an excellent beam routine with a 9.0. Britting had an 8.7, Jill McIntire 8.45 and Rachael Grady scored 8.6.

On the floor, other Lancers placing well were Steph Pestka (7.5), Koon (7.3) and Taylor MacKenzie (7.1)
