Dalton man injured in Jefferson snowmobile accident

February 16. 2014 9:13PM

JEFFERSON - A Dalton man was injured after being thrown from a snowmobile Sunday night.

According to Conservation Officer Matthew Holmes, at 6:45 p.m. Brian Parks, 54, suffered a leg injury after being thrown from his snowmobile when he crashed while negotiating a corner along the Corridor 5 snowmobile trail near the Waumbek Golf Course.

Parks said he caught a ski on an alder bush, which caused the machine to veer quickly and throw him.

Shortly after the crash, Parks was located by his son and another riding partner. A member of the group called 911, but Parks was able to ride his machine to Route 2 in Jefferson to meet rescue personnel.

Members of the Jefferson Fire Department, Lancaster Ambulance and conservation officers from NH Fish and Game responded to the call.
Parks was taken by Lancaster Ambulance from Route 2 in Jefferson to Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster for treatment.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but Officer Holmes said alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
