The online publication College Sports Madness recently named Mont Vernon's Jacklyn Dubois to its preseason all-American Athletic Conference team.

A University of Connecticut sophomore and Bishop Guertin High School of Nashua graduate, Dubois last year appeared in 36 games and started 33 for at catcher or designated hitter, compiling a .284 batting average, fourth-highest on the team. Among her 25 hits were three doubles and six home runs. She also scored 21 runs and drove in 18.

Dubois and the Huskies open their 2014 season Friday with games against Hofstra and DePaul at Clearwater, Fla.

St. Anselm's men's and women's ice hockey programs combined to raise more $10,200 during their "Pink in the Rink" event, held last month. After offsetting costs, the Hawks will be donating $5,200 to the Breast Cancer Research Wing at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester. The two-day event saw close to 2,000 fans fill the Thomas F. Sullivan Arena throughout the weekend to help raise funds and awareness to combat breast cancer.

Both teams' players donned pink jerseys at each of their two games Friday and Saturday, in addition to pink accents in their game-day apparel and equipment. The women's jerseys, predominately pink with white piping down the sides, were donated by Hawks booster Bob Rotondo.

During the intermission in each of the four games, fans were able to participate in a special chuck-a-puck contest. Fans threw specially-numbered pucks onto the ice surface from their seats and the person closest to center ice took home a prize, including a snowboard, a cooler, and lift tickets. The prizes were donated by Tom Bullock of Amoskeag Beverages, headquartered in Bow.
