NHIAA Roundup: Gabrione, SNHU earn hockey victory

Jim Gabrione scored twice including the game-winning goal in the third period, to lift the Southern New Hampshire men’s ice hockey team past Assumption College 6-5 Sunday in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup in Worcester, Mass.

The Penmen improve to 14-8-1 overall and 6-4 in league play. Jay Sylvia scored twice in the second period for SNHU. Zach Lubinski of Hudson also scored for the Penmen.

Women’s hockey

Vermont 5, UNH 1: In Durham, Nicole Gifford scored her team-leading 11th season goal in the first period for UNH, 9-20-2 overall and 4-13-2 in Hockey East.
