NHIAA Roundup: Kennett hockey team edges past Kearsarge

Brad Canaval, Brad Baker and Nick Arsaldi each scored a goal to lead Kennett of Conway to a 3-1 victory over Kearsarge of North Sutton Tuesday in a Division III boys’ ice hockey contest at Proctor Academy in Andover.

Kennett (7-7) took the 1-0 lead on Canaval’s first period goal and Baker scored the eventual winning goal in the second frame. Kearsarge freshman Jakob Arnold closed the deficit to 2-1 minutes into the third period before Arsaldi sealed the win for the Eagles later in the frame. Kearsarge dropped to 1-7-1.

Kearsarge goaltender Cody Rowe stopped 30 of the 33 shots and his counterpart, Bobby Davis, turned away 11 shots.

Kearsarge will travel to Laconia for a game against seventh-ranked Laconia-Winnisquam today. Kennett travels to fourth-ranked Portsmouth today.

Boys’ basketball

Moultonborough 66, Profile 64: At Moultonborough, Aaron Davis made two free throws late to lift Moultonborough.

Davis was fouled on a rebound with two seconds left, but was called for a technical foul while hauling in his rebound, Davis made both ends of a one-and-one while Profile made one of two on the technical foul, leaving the Panthers with a 66-64 lead.

Riley Swedberg led the winners with 25 points, including 7-for-7 from the line, with eight rebounds for Moultonborough. Tristan Price had 16 points, 11 in the first quarter, with four 3-point goals, and Davis scored 12 to go along with 11 rebounds. Ian Baker led Profile (11-4) with 25 points and Bailey Johnson scored 22 points.
