A Hillsborough County Superior Court jury sitting in Nashua on Thursday convicted a Nashua man of committing a “pattern of sexual assault” on a female victim from the age of 13 until after her 16th birthday.
It took the jury three hours to find Kevin Murray, 50, of Nashua guilty of two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault, attempted aggravated felonious sexual assault and a misdemeanor sexual assault.
The assaults occurred between 2001 and 2004 and included forcible rape and oral sex. Nashua police began investigating when the victim came forward six years after the abuse stopped.
The victim testified at trial as did other witnesses.
“We hope that this verdict will bring the victim some closure surrounding a very difficult period in her life. We also hope that her strength in participating in this prosecution will give other victims of sexual abuse the courage to come forward,” Assistant County Attorney Catherine Devine said in a statement. Devine prosecuted the case with Assistant County Attorney David Tencza.
Murray also apologized for what he had done to the victim, Hillsborough County Attorney Patricia M. LaFrance wrote in a statement.
A sentencing hearing has not yet been set.
