UPDATE: Girl, 7, dies after Rochester crash

ROCHESTER - A 7-year-old girl has died after the car she was riding in was involved in a crash on Route 202 in Rochester Wednesday around 4:30 p.m.

Madison Weeks of Strafford was in a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu operated by her mother, Lori Weeks, 31, of Strafford that lost control during a snowstorm. Police said Weeks skidded into the oncoming lane of traffic where it was struck on the rear passenger side by a 2004 Toyota Matrix operated by Roberta Siderchuck, 48, of Strafford. Siderchuck was headed west and Weeks was headed east, according to police.

The accident happened in the area of Blue Hills Drive near the Barrington town line.

Lori Weeks and her daughter were taken to Frisbie Hospital, and Madison was later taken to Maine Medical Center where she died of her injuries.

ROCHESTER – A young passenger suffered serious injuries in an accident near the Barrington town line Wednesday.
Police, firefighters and emergency personnel responded around 4:30 p.m. after a 2004 Toyota Matrix and a 2007 Chevy Malibu collided near 403 Washington St. – Route 202, which is close to Blue Hills Drive.
Emergency personnel found the two "heavily damaged vehicles" in the near the shoulder and "one person lying on the ground," according to police.
A juvenile passenger of the Malibu was taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital. The driver of the Malibu was taken to Frisbie for non-life threatening injuries and the other driver refused transport, according to police.
"We are not releasing any names at this time," Police Lt. Todd Pinkham said Wednesday evening.
Due to the accident, area police detoured traffic along Route 202 at Greenhill Road in Barrington and Estes Road in Rochester. Residents can access Washington Street - Route 202 – via Dry Hill Road in Rochester, according to police.
Members of the Strafford County Regional Accident Reconstruction Team responded to help investigate the accident.
"At this time weather related road conditions appears to be a factor, however the accident is still under investigation at this time," police said.
"At this time neither speed, nor alcohol appear to be factors. The road was shut down for the TAR investigation," Pinkham said.
After the vehicles were towed from the scene, Route 202 reopened around 9:15 p.m., according to police.
