Free help with filing your taxes

Here are some places around the state offering free assistance in filing income tax forms:

-- Elliot At River's Edge, 185 Queen City Ave., Manchester: Tuesdays only through April 1 from 8 a.m. to noon. Only help on short, uncomplicated forms is available. For information, call 663-4567.

-- Marion Gerrish Community Center, 39 W. Broadway, Derry: Tuesdays and Thursdays only through April 15 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. AARP tax aid provides the service.

-- Salvation Army, 121 Cedar St., Manchester: Mondays and Thursdays only through April 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Customers take a number and wait in line; no appointments taken.

-- Community Health Services/Prime Time, 195 McGregor St., Manchester: Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to noon and Fridays through April 11 from noon to 2:15 p.m. Call 626-2626 for an appointment.

Meanwhile, free tax preparation by IRS-trained volunteers is available to those with a household income of $52,000 or less.

A partnership with United Way, Citizens Bank Foundation, the IRS and AARP means sites will be open in Manchester, Salem, Concord, Berlin, Peterborough, Franklin, Laconia, Littleton, Portsmouth, Rochester and the Upper Valley. People can call 2-1-1 to make an appointment.
