White Mountains, Woodsville girls advance

Senior Kayla Bosse registered 20 points, nine rebounds and four steals, helping White Mountains Regional High to a 57-33 victory over Kearsarge of North Sutton in a Division III girls' basketball first-round tournament contest on Tuesday in Whitefield.

Sophomore Alex Curtis added seven points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals for the 13th-seeded Spartans. Senior Katie Wood added nine points on three 3-pointers, and Jill Rooney contributed nine points, all in the second half.

For the 20th-seeded Cougars, Devi Kraushaar scored nine points, and Anna Cahill and Lexi Bryk added eight and seven points, respectively.

WMRHS visits Fall Mountain of Langdon on Thursday night in the tourney's second round.

Woodsville 31, Newmarket 21: On Tuesday in the first round of the Division IV girls’ tournament, Maggie Kinder and Lottie Page each scored eight points for the 19-2 Engineers. Sam Thurston added 12 rebounds for the winners. Woodsville, ranked fourth, will host fifth-ranked Littleton on Friday at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinals. Both teams split their season series, winning on their home court.
