Teen hurt in Pittsburg snowmobile crash

PITTSBURG — A Moultonborough teen suffered severe injuries Thursday when he was thrown from a snowmobile into a tree, according to a New Hampshire Fish and Game Department release.

Tyler DeMond, 19, was a passenger on a snowmobile driven by Taylor Smith, 19, of Meredith, shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday when Smith failed to make a curve in the trail. Both were thrown from the machine. Smith was not injured, but DeMond collided with a tree, suffering severe but not life-threatening, injuries, the release said.

DeMond was taken to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook for treatment. Inexperience was the main contributing cause of the crash, the release said.
