College Roundup: Grant lifts Dartmouth to first shutout win at Cornell in 54 years

Charles Grant made 36 saves, leading Dartmouth College to a 1-0 victory over No. 11 Cornell in key ECAC hockey game on Friday night before a sellout crowd of 4,267 at Lynah Rink in Ithaca, N.Y.

Grant's second career shutout gave the Big Green their first shutout win in Ithaca since 1960.

The great play by their sophomore netminder helped push the Big Green's unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1) and its ECAC record to 7-12-2 as the postseason tournament nears.

Captain Tyler Sikura scored the game's lone goal 1:54 into the second period, poking home a rebound past goalie Andy Iles.

Cornell, which is fighting for a first-round bye in the league tourney, dropped to 14-8-5 and 10-7-5. The Big Red outshot Dartmouth, 36-20.

Dartmouth plays at No. 16 Colgate tonight in its regular-season finale.
