Cold spell sinks C's against Pacers in fourth quarter


 

BOSTON - Paul George had 25 points, eight rebounds and three steals as visiting Indiana defeated Boston, 102-97, on Saturday.

Evan Turner scored 17 points and Lance Stephenson added 16 points and nine rebounds as the Pacers won their fourth consecutive game.

Roy Hibbert had 15 points and David West scored 12 to help Indiana remain two games ahead of the Miami Heat for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

Jeff Green scored 27 points and Kris Humphries added 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Celtics, who lost for the sixth time in seven games.

Brandon Bass tallied 16 points and Rajon Rondo contributed 12 points and 11 assists.

Boston held a 90-88 lead after Jared Sullinger's basket with 5:54 to play but missed its next nine field-goal attempts as Indiana seized control.

George scored eight points during a 14-4 surge that saw the Pacers possess a 102-94 lead with 24.3 seconds to play.

George had 15 first-half points as Indiana took a 55-48 lead into the break. The Pacers led by 10 after C.J. Watson's 3-pointer with 6:58 left in the third quarter before Boston dominated the rest of the period and took a 78-76 advantage into the final stanza.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The double-double was the third straight for Rondo and his sixth in 15 games since returning from major knee surgery. ... Indiana was without PG George Hill, who injured a shoulder in Thursday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks. ... Sullinger (concussion) scored 10 points in 25 minutes after a three-game absence while F Kelly Olynyk (toe) missed his second straight game.
