DERRY - Timberlane Regional of Plaistow displayed its dominance on the wrestling mat once again at the 2014 NHIAA Meet of Champions at Pinkerton Academy Saturday.
The Owls earned their 11th straight team title at the Meet of Champions. It was their 19th team title in 22 years.
Timberlane wrestlers won three weights: 120, 126 and 138, the most of any school.
Nashua North wrestlers won 113 and 195 pounds, and Londonderry won 132 and 170 pounds.
"The kids work really hard. They have a lot of pride in the program every year," said Timberlane coach Barry Chooljian.
"A lot of people had us being down this year. But they took that as a challenge, and it really paid off," said Chooljian.
A big reason for the Owls enduring success is Chooljian's former wrestlers coming back to coach his kids.
"We have a good system. A lot of my coaches have wrestled for me," said Chooljian. "Our past guys set the bar high and our kids want to be part of that tradition."
Meanwhile, Jean-Luc Lemieux of Londonderry High became a three-time meet champion with a victory over Derek Bohle of Timberlane at 132 pounds. He won the 126-pound title in 2013 and at 106 pounds in 2012.
Marcel LaPlante of Nashua North won his second 113-pound title in a row, beating Shayne McCann of Pinkerton Academy.
Tyler Fitzpatrick of Timberlane won his second title, this time at 120 pounds, by defeating Mitchell Rose of Londonderry.
In the 106-pound class, Tristan Stetson of Keene defeated Tyler Byrd of Londonderry. Ryan Peters of Timberlane won the 138-pound class over Brandon Levesque of Bishop Guertin.
Joe Chimelski of Nashua North also won his second straight title in the 195-pound class.
Tristen Leek of Sanborn won the 145-pound class and was the only Division III wrestler to win Saturday.
