Mass. man injured in Moultonborough snowmobile crash

MOULTONBOROUGH - A Westford, Mass., man was seriously injured in a late-night snowmobile crash on Lake Winnipesaukee early Saturday morning.

Brandon Fitzgerald, 23, was riding a snowmobile Saturday at 12:45 a.m. near Long Island in Moultonborough when he hit a snow berm and was ejected 83 feet, hitting a guardrail on Long Island Road. He was wearing a helmet.

People in his group watched his lights and saw them disappear from sight. They went to Fitzgerald's aid and found him unconscious.

Moultonborough Police and Stewart's Ambulance Service of Meredith responded. Fitzgerald was taken by ambulance to the Moultonborough Airport, where he was transported by DHART helicopter to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. On Monday, he was listed in serious condition.

The incident remains under investigation.
