No. 1 Newfound coasts into semis; Trevains, Neild propel Campbell


Amber Plummer scored 19 points and Karissa Bony finished with 17 as the top-seeded Newfound Regional of Bristol girls’ basketball team defeated ninth-seeded Franklin 66-37 Saturday in the Division III quarterfinals.

Newfound led by two after one quarter, and took control of the game by outscoring Franklin 20-6 in the second. Katarina Styles scored a team-high 11 for Franklin, which completed its season with an 11-9 record.

Newfound, which improved to 19-1, will face fourth-seeded Fall Mountain of Langdon in Tuesday’s semifinals at Southern New Hampshire University. Fall Mountain moved on by beating fifth-seeded Hopkinton 61-43 Saturday.

Third-seeded Campbell of Litchfield and second-seeded Bishop Brady of Concord will meet in Tuesday night’s early (5:30 p.m.) semifinal. Alex Trevains scored 18 and Hannah Neild finished with 17 to help Campbell beat Gilford 55-47 Saturday.

Bishop Brady moved on with a 44-39 triumph over Somersworth.
