BAE launches mega-data storage product

NASHUA - BAE Systems on Monday announced the launch of a mega-data storage system for commercial customers.

The TeraStar system is designed to meet the big data storage requirements of government and the military, while also accommodating the needs of small- to medium-sized businesses and cloud-based storage providers, according to a company spokesman.

.'We originally developed the TeraStar data storage system to fit the government's strict cost, size, weight, and capacity requirements that legacy commercial products were not designed to meet,' said Andrew Russette, product manager at BAE Systems. 'Now we're offering this compact and power-efficient solution to commercial businesses at a cost per terabyte that is roughly one quarter of the industry average.'..The TeraStar system stores immense volumes of data with minimal operational expense by requiring nominal physical space and using less power than traditional big data storage systems.
