Public hearing is set in Portsmouth on plan to beddown 12 KC-46A aircraft
PORTSMOUTH — The National Guard Bureau has prepared a draft Environmental Impact Statement to evaluate any environmental consequences resulting from the proposed beddown of KC-46A aircraft.
The NGB proposes to beddown 12 KC-46A aircraft at one of five locations: Forbes Air National Guard Station, Kansas; Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey; Pease Air National Guard Base, N.H.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Rickenbacker, Ohio.
A public hearing will be held at each alternative location. These hearings are a forum for the bureau to identify and collect public comments on the statement.
The complete analysis is provided in the draft EIS, which has been provided for public review and comment and can be viewed at www.angkc46aeis.com
Hardcopies of the document are available for review at the following libraries: Langdon Public Library, 328 Nimble Hill Road, Newington; and Portsmouth Public Library, 175 Parrott Ave., Portsmouth.
All members of the public and media are invited to attend the local hearing from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Portsmouth City Hall, Mary C. Dondero Chambers, 1 Junkins Ave.,
A 45-day public comment period that began Feb. 7 is providing the public an opportunity to review the draft EIS and comment on the analysis either in writing or at the public hearings. Public comments made during the hearings and received by March 24 will be considered in the preparation of final EIS.
Comments received after the deadline will be reviewed but may not be addressed in the Final EIS.
