Hooksett teen faces charge of throwing egg at police car

A Hooksett teen has been charged with reckless conduct after allegedly egging a police car early Friday morning.

According to Hooksett police, Officer Jacob Drouin was traveling south on West River Road, near Cross Road, around 1:41 a.m. when his fully marked police car was struck on the windshield by an egg, which he said was thrown from a passing vehicle.

Though his windshield view was partially obstructed by the smeared egg, Drouin was able to conduct a traffic stop and, after speaking with each of the vehicle’s occupants, Drouin determined the egg was thrown by 17-year-old Daniel Gelinas of Hooksett, who admitted to the crime.

Drouin also found a receipt detailing the purchase of two dozen eggs in Gelinas’ pocket. A timestamp revealed the eggs had been purchased a half hour prior to Drouin’s cruiser being struck.

Gelinas was charged as an adult for a misdemeanor level of reckless conduct and released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail. He was ordered to appear before the 6th Circuit Court in Hooksett on April 9.
