Dartmouth men roar back to top RPI

March 09. 2014 9:37PM

The Dartmouth College hockey team roared back from a two-goal third-period deficit to beat Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 5-4 in the third and deciding game of an ECAC first-round series on Sunday night in Troy, N.Y.

Brad Schierhorn's goal with 2:14 remaining won it for Dartmouth, which trailed 4-2 after two periods. Earlier in the period, Eric Neiley and Brandon McNally scored for the Big Green.

Sophomore goalie Charles Grant stopped 35 shots for the victory.

The Big Green, seeded 10th in the league tourney, will visit the ECAC's top seed, Union, for a quarterfinal series next weekend.

Dartmouth had dropped the series opener on Friday night, but won on Saturday, 3-2, thanks to Neiley's two goals.
