Thornton voters approve zoning amendments, decide three contested races

THORNTON – Voters on Tuesday elected a new town clerk while also approving 15 zoning amendments.

There were three contested races, that for the three-year post as town clerk, which was won by Timothy Tyler; for a three-year term on the school board in which Barry VanDemoere prevailed; and for the two-year moderator post won by Bob Gannet.

Selectmen Roy Sabourn and Brad Benton were re-elected.

In the special race for the District 1 seat on the executive council, Republican Joseph Kenney received 219 votes compared to Democrat Michael Cryans who got 158.
