Former Atkinson police chief elected selectman


ATKINSON - Former police chief Philip Consentino is now a selectmen defeating William Friel by 15 votes, 801-786, for a one-year term on the board.

Consentino retired as police chief early last year after 45 years on the force. One day after he retired, selectmen fired Consentino for cause.

In a three-way race for one three-year term as selectman, Harold Morse topped Scott Mitchell and Craig Schuster.

Voters also approved the proposed town operating budget of $4,241,270 by a 760-720 vote.
