Auburn police contract approved

AUBURN – Auburn voters approved all articles Tuesday, including $93,100 to fund architectural and engineering fees associated with the renovation and addition of Auburn Village School, as well as two-year collective bargaining agreement with the Auburn Police Commission.

The police contract represents an additional cost of $21,412 for both the 2013 and 2014 fiscal years.

The school district's $12,490,886 and the town's $5,054,873 were also approved, and 494-415, respectively

Article 4, requested a $34,675 mosquito control program to help prevent West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE). Selectmen supported it. The budget committee did not, but the article carried, 585-414.

Auburn also approved $72,696 for the second payment on a seven-year lease/purchase agreement for a new fire department pumper truck, but did not approve $45,500 for a four-wheel drive fire command vehicle. The budget committee did not support the latter.

A $75,000 for the Special Education Expendable Trust Fund was approved as well.

Richard Eaton, with 393 votes, won the one open three-year seat on the town's board of selectmen, defeating Kathleen Porter, Audrey Trickett and Ryan Maher.

Mark Comeau trumped incumbent Chris Trickett for the open three-year school board position, 569-339.
