Chamber, Covering New Hampshire host health insurance roundtable
MANCHESTER - Business owners will have an opportunity to learn more about new health insurance regulations and benefits available to their employees at an upcoming Small Business Roundtable and Information Forum hosted by the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and Covering New Hampshire.
The forum will take place 7:30 to 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce offices, 54 Hanover St.
Under the Affordable Care Act, small businesses with 50 or fewer full-time-equivalent employees are eligible to participate in the Small Business Health Options Program, or SHOP. This marketplace provides businesses with four levels of coverage they can offer full-time employees at varying levels of cost. If a small business has 25 employees or fewer, it may be eligible for tax credits worth up to 50 percent of the premium cost.
The Small Business Roundtables will include an overview of the Affordable Care Act and a presentation on SHOP by Greta Johansson, district director of the New Hampshire District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration. The roundtable will close with a question-and-answer session, moderated by Michael Whitney, interim president and CEO of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. All small business owners or managers in the Manchester area are welcome to attend.
"We are pleased to partner with Covering NH to provide information and educate our members in regard to the Affordable Care Act," said Michael Whitney, in a statement. "Eighty percent of our members are small businesses and the ability to provide them with the facts surrounding the new health-care law is truly a value-add for them."
Those interested in attending should contact the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce at 666-6600. For more information about events sponsored by Covering New Hampshire, go to coveringnewhampshire.org.
