Recount on Deerfield warrant article yields same result
DEERFIELD — If Deerfield selectmen hope to create a revolving fund to hold and distribute money for police detail work in town, they’ll have to wait another year.
A recount of Article 9 on the town warrant yielded no success for proponents of the initiative, according to selectmen chairman Steve Barry, who said there was no change to the original 588-565 tally.
Selectmen had unanimously supported the article, which Barry explained had no tax impact and was intended to separate financial allocations for the detail work from the town’s operating budget. A separate revolving account, he said, would be self-sustainable with money coming in from those paying for the police services and then distributed to support detail income and associated retirement benefits.
Barry said he was unsure, at this time, if selectmen would place a similar article on next year’s ballot.
