Police say construction worker's injuries were from accident, not assault

MANCHESTER — Injuries suffered by a construction worker in what was initially reported as an assault Thursday morning were the result of an accident, police said Thursday night.

"The latest reports we have is that it was accidental, not a fight," Sgt. Tim Patterson said.

Patterson said detectives will continue to investigate the incident, which happened about 10:30 a.m. Thursday and left blood stains on snow and plywood outside 447 Beech St. He said the names of those involved would not be released Thursday night.
Yellow police tape cordoned off the alley between the two apartment buildings at 449 and 447 Beech St., and an officer was seen interviewing a man toward the rear of 447 Beech St.

Sgt. Brian N. O'Keefe, at 11:45 a.m., said it was too soon to say what happened, but that detectives were on the scene.
Dispatch, he said, received a call reporting two construction workers had an altercation and one of them was assaulted.

O'Keefe said the injured man was taken to the hospital for treatment.
